Significant Events
Fifth Anniversary: On May 5, 2005, we celebrated our 5 th anniversary as a firm (although several of us have been together for 15 years including a prior firm). This gave us a perfect excuse to hold a “Cinco de Mayo” celebration at the City Club on Bunker Hill. About 150 people attended, and great Mexican food was enjoyed by all.
Business Ethics : Karl Schulze has, for the past two years, been actively involved in building a Business Ethics Program at his alma mater, the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. In conjunction with this effort, Karl has lectured to both graduate students and the business community on the subject of Ethical Business Behavior. Karl has also become a key driving force in the effort to establish a permanent Center for the Study and Promotion of Business Ethics at the UM Business School.

Real Estate News
Southbay Pavilion: For the past three years Schulze Haynes & Co. has assisted Hopkins Real Estate Group and its financial partner, Shamrock Holdings, in the acquisition, renovation and now disposition of the one million square foot Southbay Pavilion in Carson, California. Schulze Haynes & Co. first managed and coordinated the due diligence process related to the acquisition of the property. Dana Haynes, of Schulze Haynes & Co., has then served as the Development Manager during the redevelopment of the Southbay Pavilion. A portion of the mall was demolished to accommodate a new 146,000 s.f. Target, which will join Sears, JCPenney and IKEA as anchor tenants. Several new outparcel tenants were added, including 24Hr Fitness, Chili’s and Washington Mutual. Dana Haynes has managed the construction financing, leasing and construction of this complex project. The Southbay Pavilion was recently listed for sale in what will prove to be a very successful project for Hopkins and Shamrock.
Equitable Venture: Recently, Schulze Haynes & Co. has entered into a venture with The Equitable Companies. Under this partnership, Schulze Haynes & Co, will use its considerable expertise in real estate investing and development to identify appropriate acquisition targets in markets throughout the U.S. We will also conduct due diligence and strategic planning on identified properties.
